When Looking at Your Story on Fb What Does the Blue Dot Mean
SOCIAL media is everywhere with filters, hashtags and grammable-worth shots part of everyday life for most people.
With three of the most popular apps, Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook, having millions of users each, we explore the story features on each one.

What's a Snapchat story?
Snapchat stories are often filled with filters, boomerangs, and emojis.
Rolling out a new update last month, Snapchat did a major overhaul to how the app looks and is laid out.
The website says: "Stories are a fun way to keep up with friends.
"Each Story is a compilation of Snaps that a friend has posted to their Story over the last 24 hours.

"Each Snap is a part of your Story for 24 hours (unless you delete it, of course!)
"You can view a Snapchatter's Story as many times as you like until it's no longer available."
Users are able to create stories, share them with friends and watch their mates' stories too.
Despite them disappearing after 24 hours, if one particularly takes your fancy you can always save it for later.
Simply go to your stories screen and you'll be able to save from there.
What's an Instagram story?

Instagram stories also only last for 24 hours, but you can also save your faves for later.
Insta allows users to add emojis, writing, add in location and now send polls on their stories.
Users can tag people in their stories by mentioning them, share a story in a direct message or start a live video.
The feature was launched in 2016, and when announcing the latest toy Instagram said: "With Instagram Stories, you don't have to worry about overposting.
"Instead, you can share as much as you want throughout the day — with as much creativity as you want.
"You can bring your story to life in new ways with text and drawing tools."
And earlier this year Instagram rolled out a new update which allows users to see who has screenshotted their story.
What's a Facebook story?

Facebook launched its story feature last year, following in the footsteps of its rivals.
It focuses on the in-app camera which allows users to add in snapchat-esque filters and cartoons.
And it takes a leaf out of Instagram's book by allowing geotagging as well.
They're also similar in layout, appearing at the top of the Facebook news feed, and last just 24 hours before they disappear.
This month the app launched an overhaul to its newsfeed, and here's everything you need to know about the new layout.
How can you tell who's viewed them?
On Snapchat, tap the three dots to the right of My Story, tap a snap and then swipe up the screen.
This will reveal how many people viewed and also screenshotted your story.
But, the help section of the website says: "If a very large number of Snapchatters viewed your Story, all of their names may not appear in this list."
On Instagram, only you can see how many people have viewed your story.
To check, open up the story and swipe up and it will reveal the number of people who have seen your story.
According to the help section of the website, you can also see the names of people who have seen each photo or video in your story.
On Facebook, if someone has seen your story an eye icon will appear bottom left.

To see who has seen it, open the story and click the icon.
And when someone views your story a blue dot will appear by their name, and in the list of people who have seen your story your Facebook friends will appear first.
The help section of the website says: "If your story privacy is set to Public, you'll be able to see the number of followers who have viewed your story, but not specific follower names."
